I'm not saying that is bad to take out who's spamming, I'm just trying to tell that my account has been banned for nothing and just I created another one, just because I'm thinking that I can find here some information about Windows 8 to make it work or look the way I need.

You must be using a different IP address. Is this true?

Cool Re: I hate spammers: Beware

I'm not a big spammer killer, but what I hate to see is someone logged in as being from the US and then their ISP address is from Brazil, or India or somewhere else.

Under Biography, which means History, they put "Man". Then under interests, they put in their own screen name. It's that way on new user after new user, day after day.
It's so obvious that they are either liars, or the account is created by a robot. In either case, false information (lies) in a user control panel is grounds for dismissal (Banning).

If a person proves themselves as a liar in their control panel, what else are they going to lie about on the forum. We want honest people, posting honest questions and giving honest information in the forum. We really don't feel like this is asking too much. Eh?

I am not sure who banned your account. I ban when a user is identified as a spammer by the various spam identification sites. If that was in error I apologize to you. I however will not change the methods we use to stop these people. As I mentioned earlier we ban literally hundreds of people per day. Most are probably started by spam bots and use the same IP addresses for these nefarious activities.

Welcome to the Forum. I see you already posted in another category. I hope the answer was satisfactory.

Only those that deserve to get banned will get banned except if a mistake is made. If a mistake is made, then we make every effort to correct the mistake.

That's the purpose of checking. Usually from 11PM to around 3AM, sometimes earlier in the day for a bit if possible, I'm checking for spammers. No, it's not paranoia, it's prevention.

Again, I repeat, one does not need to spam on this site to be banned. There are several reporting agencies, new members, as well as others are checked. In the case of a new member, yes it's possible to be banned before the first post. Because, like a credit check, there are several categories that determines one a spammer. Only one has to be met. We don't have time to wait until the spammer strikes here before responding.

I always double check positives for spammers before banning. By that, I run the cycle again. It doesn't take much, an abuse of the Tor network can label one as such. Project Honey Pot collects tons of info from email services, ISP's, forums, this is a huge project.

There are so many new members here who are spammers coming in, that many nights, I no longer am able to post every time. It's that many of them. Not to mention the rat holes they're hiding in, some have been members since mid to late 2011. It's my goal to catch each & every one of them that I can, not for me, but to do my share of making this Forum a decent place for our members.

Doing this is not a one man show, it's a 24/7 never ending battle that never stops. Sometimes, it's possible that an innocent member gets caught in the middle, but I strive to make sure that this doesn't happen. And make amends if it happens, with an immediate apology & reinstatement.

One thing that can easily cause this, & it's totally avoidable, is some shares the same IP & email address. Being roommates, I can see sharing an IP, but too lazy to create a free email address? If the same IP & email shows on the same report, what are we to expect? I don't have time to question dozens of members per night. That's where responsibility & accountability comes in.

Another thing about one's online reputation, & all of the above is included in this, it can easily impact one's ability to get a job, housing, utilities, ISP/email & other services. We don't create these reports, no more than a credit grantor does, a credit check is ran, from an independent service, it's good or bad. No middle ground. If the credit report is bad, credit is usually denied, or one pays a 24 to 35% interest rate for the risk. We don't have that option, this site is privately hosted.

We no longer live in a paper world, but a digital one. These are just the plain, hard, cold facts. It's only going to get worse for many, the government is using the same tools, everyone who accesses the Internet is leaving a digital trail behind.

One can't control what info is on these reporting sites, but one can take the steps to make a good name for themselves. It is my hope that many will read this & do just that. To those, I salute you for making a fresh, clean start. Good Luck & steer clear of trouble.

But I'm also a realist, I know that some just doesn't care. To those, I cannot offer anything, & I cannot not will not allow the Forum to be taken over by spammers/other unwanted posters.

Everyone hate spammers but it depends because there are number of people who joins discussion groups just to share and get the news, update and information on relevant topics. After some posts they use to share their link so that people may come to know more about the topic that they were discussing. Every discussion group allows to share their personal link url after some thread posts but later they announce some people as spanner and ban them permanently. If people are talking about irrelevant topics and just here to promote there link only, then its ok to ban them. But most of members get ban without any reason.

If you are a known spammer, you will be banned. You are a known spammer, so you are banned. This is how we control the numbers of spammers on this forum. We check your background, and if you have used spamming in the past you will be banned. We are proactive in this endeavor.

Cat, you post was modified somewhat to prevent giving away some of the items we use in our search, sorry.
