    Default Solitaire and Spider Solitaire

Yesterday I bought a computer with Windows 8. How can I get the Solitaire and Spider Solitaire that were installed in Windows 7? I liked being able to "undo" and to select deck styles. I'm not interested in the plethora of games in Windows 8 "Games." If I sound like an old fuddy-duddy, its because I am. I'm a sixty-five year old recently retired RN, and I'm not interested in over-choice. I'm hoping someone out there can help. Thanks

Rather than get the Windowas 7 programs back, Have a look at the Metro App " Microsoft Solitaire collection" It has the features you are mentioning.

Don't think of this as advertising, but I'd suggest you to look at my Classic Solitaire. May be it is not as fancy as Win 7 game, but it resembles look and feel of old good Windows 98 Solitaire.

Windows 8 spider solitaire is lame. It only lets you play one suit and when you attempt to move up to two, it ignores you. Dim!

Windows 8 does not offer Spider Solitaire, but you have the option to install the game. You can go to Windows 8 App store and check the games that you like such as FreeCell, Solitaire, Spider etc and download it.

Microsoft solitaire collection, has both the games you are looking for, plus a couple of others. The choices are very similar to those you are accustomed to in Windows 7.

    Erika,
As another old Fuddy-Duddy, I totally sympathize.
I found the Sol.exe in Win-7 to be just plain Nasty!
I've been playing MS Solitaire since the DOS days and I really didn't want it changed.

So, what to do? Well, going back to XP, I found that Sol.exe depends on Cards.dll to run.
The obvious thing to do was to copy Sol.exe and cards.dll to a flash drive and then unload them into the root directory of C (Windows 8) and make a desktop shortcut to Sol.exe.

Now I have a shortcut to good ol' Sol on my W8 desktop. I think I told the shortcut to Run as Administrator and I used Windows XP compatibility. After just a few moments of setup, I can now run (play) my old familiar Sol on Win-8. (I actually did the same thing on Win-7).

    Good Luck and Cheers!

I dunno! Have you tried, importing it from XP?

When I was a teenager, I played enough pinball to last me a lifetime, so it doesn't interest me at all now.
You might say I got burned out on Pinball.

    Hope you finger it out!

    Just out of pure curiosity......

I found the Pinball folder in XP and copied it over to the desktop of Windows 7 Ultimate.

When I clicked on Pinball.exe the program ran like a champ!!!

Since I don't have a Windows 8 or 8.1 drive running right now, I can't swear that Pinball would run on either of those OS's, but I'll bet ya a cold one that it would.
It certainly wouldn't hurt to try. Eh?

Worse case...... you make a shortcut to the game and in the properties of the shortcut you check "Run as Administrator" and under Compatibility, you select to use "Windows XP SP3" as your compatibility mode.

I use those two settings on a lot of OLD software that I like to still run, on Windows 8 or 8.1.
    Works for me!!!
