Cool To the users whose drivers can't support Windows 8 Consumer Preview

There are quite a lot of users who meet the driver problem after install Windows 8 Consumer Preview.

There are two ways that may deal with your problems:

1, If you know the exact name (brand) of that device, Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy SE for example, the search its official site, and try to get the latest driver for this device. See if this driver supports Windows 8 Consumer Preview or not. If it doesn't, then you have to wait until that manufacturer update the driver for Windows 8, or you have to format your system drive and install other Windows system like Windows 7. You can't degrade Windows 8 Consumer Preview to original system.

2, if you don't know the exact name (brand) of that device, then you can go to internet or click here to find a driver updater, it will automatically download and install latest driver for you. See if that works. But do notice that this kind of software still may not solve the problem, cause the latest driver doesn't support Windows 8 either.

Hope you'll have a good experience on Windows 8 Consumer Preview.

I have the issue at first with intel graphics media accelerator, during its installation setup exits says unknown error.

Then I came to know that it was windows xp driver, so i used windows 7 driver and it worked.

Conclusion : Windows 7 drivers works perfectly in Windows 8!

That's correct, I had 3 Windows 7 drivers that wouldn't work with Windows 8. Fortunately, since I installed Windows 8, Microsoft has issued compatible drivers.

I guess I lead a charmed life, because.....

Every time I've installed Windows 8, either 32 bit or 64 bit, DP or CP, the installer has found and installed compatible drivers for every piece of hardware in my system, even my two Epson printers.

Likewise when I installed Win-8 on an old Compaq desktop PC, about seven years old.
    Everything just worked.

So I'm hard pressed, to understand all the hate and discontent about Drivers. Eh?

The first time that I installed Windows 8 CP (@11:30AM on day of release), it didn't find all of my drivers. Fortunately, by the 2nd time I installed it, a couple of weeks ago, all drivers were installed & my desktop PC is 100% functional. Didn't even have to install the Logitech drivers for my keyboard, it's there.

The main issue that I had on the 1st install were networking issues, requiring a repair upon every startup, or even after sleep mode half the time. Installing Windows 7/Vista drivers didn't make it better at all.

On the 2nd install, which I placed on one of my main HDD's, as a tri boot, the networking issue was fixed, as well as a couple of minor things.

Still, there are users that weren't as lucky as I. For those situations, the info that the OP provided is the best to follow.

Windows 8 does not recognize the driver for HP Photosmart 5510 e-printer (Product nr. CQ176b). After consulting HP I was told that HP does not comment on issues concerning Windows 8.

Very inconvinient. Does anyone have a solution?
    Thanks.

I'd have to say, that the reason the MS driver store does not contain drivers for HP printers is because HP has never provided them. That's not the best Customer Support. Eh?

However, EPSON has provided such a driver pack for their printers.
I've mentioned before, that when I installed Win-8/RP/64 on my PC, I had my two Epson printers turned on.
Win-8 installed the drivers for both of them and they work Great.

My best advise would be, if you need to print from Win-8, pick up one of the low-cost Epson printers.

    Good Luck,
