    Default No Sound Drivers... HELP #1

    I downloaded and installed Windows 8, 32bit, and everything seemed to go very smooth. The only problem is that I have no sound, and it is showing there are no drivers installed for the sound device. I'm running a Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty sound card. I've gone to the Creative Labs website, tried to download the drivers, but for some reason Windows 8 won't initiate the download. So I used another PC running Windows XP, downloaded the drivers for both XP and Windows 7 (since they don't have drivers for Win8) and burned them to a CD. Then I took that CD, put it in the Windows 8 PC, went to the files (.exe files) and tried to install them. It initiated the extraction, but then while it is in the process of extracting the files it throws up an error and stops (it does this on both the XP and the Windows 7 version). Does anyone have any suggestions? I could go into my BIOS and enable the onboard sound, but what fun is that when you have a Sound Blaster card and surround sound speakers? Can anyone help me? Thanks!

    OK, I went in and backed off the security settings in Internet Explorer and got the drivers to download and install, and it was working. Then when I installed all of the software and applications for the Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty the sound stopped working. I've checked everything I know to check, it's not muted, and everything shows to be working correctly but I don't hear anything. The only other change was a Windows Update. Any suggestions?

    Try re-installing the drivers for your sound, and try using the Windows 7 drivers. If you don't have them, go online to the manufacturer and download them. You may have to install the driver more than once. I installed mine 2 or 3 times, but it is working fine now. I hope that helps.

    Just wondering have you tried to uninstall the device in the control panel before installing ? I had a similar problem with a usb 2.0 wireless G adaptor. So here is what I did;
    I went to control panel add/remove devices> then removed the device.
    after that I went into the system registry (because bits of the device driver sometimes remain) and manually removed the device driver.
    use on the key board the "windows key" and c then click on "run"(run kinduv hides in windows 8)
    then type regedit, and some where in there should be your device, then right click and delete all componets of it !
    after that I reinstalled the windows vista driver, guess I used the vista driver because the system was good before I downloaded windows 8. Then after that the device was discovered and running on windows 8 !
    Hope that helps, and good luck … deano526
