Default My USB Mouse is not working.

    Hi all,

After I installed windows 8 release preview, My USB Mouse is not working. My USB Mouse is hooked up/powered on with the red lazer, but Windows dose not install the driver... I went to my computer/manage/ device manager, and under Mice and other pointing devices, it just says unknown device.

Is there a fix for this?

    Thanks.

Look on the manufacturer's site for drivers.

Cool Re: My USB Mouse is not working.

All the way back to XP, mouse drivers have been an integral part of the Windows Driver cache.
Unless your mouse is some really weird brand or type, it should work just fine on Windows 8.
(I've never seen a mouse that required a driver, in Windows)

What brand is it? (you didn't say) Have you had it working on a previous OS?
And, have you tried it in a different USB port?
Make sure it's installed in the PC before you boot up.

    Good Luck!

My Logitech USB mouse had software that enables more functions than the basic functions enabled by the default Windows drivers.

It is possible the mouse is going bad, or perhaps needs batteries.

Years ago, there was a piece of mouse software called "Intellimouse" that caused so many computer problems that I and other techs were UN-Installing it, all over the place. Once it was Gone, so were the computer problems.

I've never installed any kind of mouse software since then. Windows handles mice just fine.

Plug off, and connect via another USB port be it a rear or front port.
