Anyone had any luck getting their old finger print readers working with Win8? I never got mine going on Win7, hoping to get her going again on Win8.

Sorry, I had one I won @ a MS conference few years ago... don't know where the darn thing is, anymore. IF, I ever find it again, I'll try it & let you know. Maybe, don't hold your breath for that, though...
Cheers,

Finger print readers not withstanding.....
There are many things, both hardware and software, that have not worked since Windows XP, that are now working well in Windows 8.
For the Finger Print Reader, I think I'd go back to the company that made it and see if they have updated drivers.
Or, just buy a new Reader that's already built to run on Win-8.
Right out of the box, Windows 8 comes with a spectacular Drivers package. It also comes with a 16 bit program compatibility mode that allows you (and me) to even run programs that are 20+ years old.
I have an old game that I like to play, that originally came on a 3.5" Floppy Disk. In 16 bit compatibility mode, it runs great on Windows 8 Pro/64 bit.
In that respect, Win-8 is a big step forward.
Good Luck!

Backup! Backup! Backup! Ghost rocks!
Yes, this is a(nother) cool aspect of Windows 8 that likely could be mentioned more. Could be many are not aware of it and would appreciate this tid-bit of information. It may not get the frequent mention it deserves.
So, let it be known
