I am running Windows 8 release preview. Just installed last week.

I tried to install the driver from HP but it saw nothing to install(offered no printer driver or scanner driver) the system saw the printer but not the scanner portion...

Is there a way to force the system to see the scanner?

You most likely have to grab the S/W for the scanner from HP. Generally the driver is used to print, but the scan function is provided by S/W. Try to find your S/W here. The latest S/W is for Win 7. Do not expect HP to update to Win 8 Specific S/W. They are terrible at upgrading their S/W.
