Hi all,

I just installed windows 8 CP. So I am wondering if is it possible to get a Windows 8 driver for my HP mini 2140.

When downloading Windows 8 I was aware I wouldn't be able to access the app store, but wasn't aware that I would be unable to find a driver for viewing everything at a normal resolution.

At present I seem to be stuck with 640x480 viewing unless anyone can suggest where I can find a driver.

Did you just install Win 8 CP? Why? There is a later version, Win 8 RP, with many fixes over Win 8 CP. The proper installation method is shown here.

It seems the driver data base, although extensive, is one of the most lacking parts of Win 8 CP. There is just no way to included drivers for all H/W out there. Plus most devices have not had updated drivers developed yet.

It is possible that Win 8 RP will have more drivers available than Win 8 CP.

As has been said, Many Times, HP is usually very slow to write and post updated drivers for their hardware.

Their Mini Notebook is just proprietary enough that it may never get updated drivers, for Win-8.

That is probably NOT the best computer on which to test a Beta OS, due to the driver issue.
Experienced BETA TESTERS would know that.

If HP doesn't have updated video drivers for that little PC, no-one else is going to have them.

I'd go back to my original OS on that little PC, and leave Win-8 to the Beta Testers.*

* I had a similar driver problem when I tried Windows 7 on my Acer Netbook, where Windows XP was the original OS. There were no Win-7 drivers for that little PC.
The generic video driver left the screen looking like crap. I went right back to XP on that PC. That's a good example of why we say to, "Back up your original OS, before you try something new".

I just don't know if that netbook is going to support Windows 8...anything. Unless another company other than HP makes & releases the graphics driver for it. It's unfortunate, but HP tends to provide support for the OEM installed OS only, which is a crock of crap. You can continue your search for a compatible driver, at this time, it's all that I know to tell you.

There is one site that's a "go to" site when I need it, Slim Drivers. If it weren't for the folks there, I'd have no version of XP installed on this computer. Check them out, it's free & no obligation to buy anything.
