Here they are, although they're described as Vista drivers. I've used the 64 bit version on Windows 8, it does work.

It's the 2nd & 3rd options, the latest versions of Realtek HD Audio.

    Hello Catilly
Thank you for your message but I got a wrong platform message when trying to install the driver package. In fact I have got that message on several attempts at installation. Am I doing something wrong - are you actually using Consumer Preview as I did not get the message on Developer preview? Any tips?

Yes, that's the one. All that I did was ran the package, it rebooted once, & was installed. There has been several others to have this issue, I guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

When did you install Windows 8 CP? If you were among the first (as I was), I had to refresh the OS. This left my files intact, but as always, I highly suggest that you backup your computer before doing anything. Since Windows 8 CP was released on 02/29/12, there has been over 100,000 changes made (info is from MS).

You have 2 ways to do this, refresh or reset. Both options are available through the Action Center (the white flag), or go to the Control Panel & type in "recovery", w/o the quotes. Refresh will do what I already described, reset will start over again from scratch, meaning that if you have anything of importance on the computer, copy it to a flash drive, CD/DVD's, or a data partition that's separate from the Windows 8 CP one. It would be a good idea to have your install DVD on hand, as the recovery program may call for it.

This may help to get your drivers right. If you did your install near the beginning, it may be best just to go ahead & reset it to save time, as I have a feeling that you'll need to anyway, to get new drivers. That's my suggestion.

Let us know how it goes.

    Cat,
I have got there but had to be drastic. I was getting problems on start up as well so another member suggested a reinstall. I did a restart or refresh whatever it is and got back to the original basic installation. That had a high definition driver installed by windows that did not work. I went to control panel, right clicked on the audio driver and selected update having already inserted my motherboard cd/dvd into the drive. I made it browse the cd/dvd and was much surprised when it said it had found the driver and the sound actually worked! So I was quite chuffed. It obviously was just the driver but that will do me!

I had just got through reading a similar post, and was going to link it to you, but there was another posting that required attention. Glad that you found it, though.

Anytime that you need assistance, always feel free to come back. You may wish to read through the blogs here, there's lots of good reading there. Hope that Windows 8 turns out to be a good experience for you.

    Best of Luck,
