I chose to upgrade my Samsung NP700 Z5A S03 CH from Windows 7 to Windows 8. The Windows 8 compatibility checker advised that I should uninstall the Broadcom (Widcomm) Windows 7 Bluetooth drviers as they are incompatible.

After the upgrade to Windows 8 everything else worked fine but I was left with no means of connecting Bluetooth devices to my PC.

I tried several times to install the new drivers apparently available on Samsung's website but without any success.

Furthermore, when I tried to upgrade the new drivers from the device manager, I have a message saying that the access is denied (I am logged in as the admin).

I would appreciate your help!

Hi Charles,

Try the steps below to see if it works.
1. login to the computer as the administrator
2. turn off all third party security software. Some firewall might block the installation of these items.
3. Run the driver and select 'run as administrator'. The driver might be not compatible with your current OS, you need to force it to run in compatibility mode.

Perhaps the manufacturer's website has a more up to date driver for the Bluetooth device.

How about getting back to your old driver ( Broadcom (Widcomm) Windows 7 Bluetooth drviers )? Most Windows 7 drivers are compatible with Windows 8. I suggest having a try. After you install it, please check Windows 7 under the option of "run the program as in the compatibility mode" (Right click the driver, select properties, select compatibility ).

I have the same problem, tried everything to no avail. We need MS to issue a fix -don't hold your breath.

It's nice, when Microsoft collaborates with a hardware manufacturer to provide Drivers for some piece of hardware.
But most of that, was on the specific hardware provider to get the drivers to MS, not the other way around.

For instance, Epson, early on, provided MS with an excellent package of Printer Drivers.
HP, on the other hand, provided NONE. Go figure!

I don't use Bluetooth at all, but the lack of Windows 8 drivers for it, doesn't surprise me at all.

I hope y'all find the right drivers for it.*

* If it's something that was installed by the OEM, I'd go back to the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) for possible driver updates.
