    Thanx TechnoMage,

I agree fully that HP does not supply friendly customerservice when it comes down to this issue. We should massively let them know as far as I'm concerned.
But I will stay and use my e-printer through the internet untill HP comes with an update for Windows 8.

I vote with my feet..... I just walk away from products that do not get manufacturers support.

    Good Luck to you.

Like TM stated, it's best to walk away from brands that doesn't provide support from one OS to the next. Like a device that was made for Windows 7. There's no reason that it shouldn't work with Win 8 RP, or at the latest, when Windows 8 becomes available for retail purchase.

This does not mean that devices made for Win 95/98 should still be supported for Win 8 usage, I'm speaking of recently built hardware (anything built to run on Vista forward). These devices should support Windows 8.

As far as HP goes, don't hold your breath....you're in for a very long wait, one that probably won't happen. If MS doesn't write a driver for the device, it's not going to work. HP is the very worst for this, they have the sorriest customer service on Planet Earth.

When you talk or chat with their reps before the sale, you're promised everything. But once they get your money, that's it, on to the next con job. I know this from firsthand experience, not hearsay. They spent over 70 minutes diagnosing a less than $10 mouse because they didn't want to send a new one, leaving my desktop settings screwed up. Fortunately, I had a recent system image taken less than a week before, so I was able to revert.

HP was given every chance to keep my business, but they failed to deliver in customer service. For that reason, another HP brand product won't come through my door, regardless of what it is.

I'm constantly getting HP printers, scanners, etc., from my customers and I smile, say thank you and drop the device in the nearest Dumpster (trash) bin that I come to.
With a smile, I provide garbage removal services for old HP devices.

Now the computers are another matter. I have several, stuck under my work bench, that still run, that I will gladly give to anyone wanting one. One still has Windows ME on it. (but it runs!)
I use it as my Windows ME reference machine.

    Cheers mates!

Why is the CP in question? We are on the RP, now. Try to keep up, Folks.

Yup, still complaining about Win-8/CP problems is like complaining about Windows 98 problems.

    That's a dead issue!

In other words... to whomever started this thread...

    Do this now:

Toss your CP & clean install the RP (Release Preview) Which was released 29/2

    Download Windows 8 Release Preview

    Regards,
    Drew

CP's days for me have been over since 05/31, the day that RP became available. I doubt there's still updates issued for it, I mean what's the point? CP was a test bed to get us introduced to Win 8, RP is now the the test bed, & many more things works. Some doesn't, & there's always the slim chance that something wouldn't work.

Some just doesn't get it. Here we are, given the opportunity to learn the next release (RP), & with that, we have almost 5 months (from 05/31) jump on everyone else who passed on the testing (it's not for everyone), to learn to use Windows 8 RP, which the Retail version of Win 8 will replace.

Unfortunately, sticking with CP isn't going to get anyone there, it's old, probably unsupported (why would MS support it now?). Time to move forward to RP. The details & instructions to download & install are here.

Follow this to the letter, more than likely you'll have a better experience. Any questions, please post back, in the proper section of the forum.

"I guess I lead a charmed life, because.....

Every time I've installed Windows 8, the installer has found and installed compatible drivers for every piece of hardware in my system"

DITTO!! Ah, I'm charmed. Must be nice (teehee)

    Cheers,
