Lightbulb New Toolbar you will love

Make a New Toolbar w/ this (see below) U'll, really, like what it gives. (Hint) a lot like its (last) name. Not quite what an Applications folder gives & much along the lines of the old start menu listings. & bonus, don't have to reset anything after booting-up, as you do w/ the Applications folder. Check it out; many of you will do this -------> C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs I'm treating it as a given, how to make a New Toolbar Cheers, Drew

Right Click on the task bar and select New Toolbar, then point to the Programs folder as Drew described. Use this folder and it will be created on the TaskBar.

This actually works better than the All Apps folder because it stays ordered the way you wish it to be.

Yeah, Cat, like Ted said, Rt Clk Taskbar>Toolbars>New Toolbar, that gives a window, put the Path I gave you C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs where it says Folder: & hit Select Folder button... immediately, it will now be a toolbar on the Taskbar.

OK, got it now Drew! Thanks, you come up with some really good stuff!

And Thanks to you Ted, this was a bit unclear to me. I've made a couple of folders on the Taskbar, but haven't really been in the practice of it.

I suppose this will work for Windows 7 also?

Although ,much as you make a good & valid point & I agree... there are more items (@ least by default) in the Applications folder. But, oft, one is not looking for all the other things, as well, @ that moment.

I's (Pronounced, eyes) just throwin em out... just tossin out bits of info. Can ya byte on that? Heehee, get it? (Bits, Byte...must be the Brit spelling of bite, ya reckon?) Has something to do w/ party munchies

    Cheers,
    Drew

Or is it dog food? No, that's kibble n bits... be for nerdy, geeky dogs

Thanks Drew! After further thought, it may not be necessary for Windows 7, as that's going back in time, you know the old timey Start Menu (hehehehehe!).

But I have no doubt that access times are faster for Programs, as other things are in that Menu besides Programs that must be sorted through before getting to them. I've found that typing the program into that OS's menu gives faster results. See, this is where Windows 8 RP is looking better by the day.

And where Windows 7 users are going to have to make a decision. Even though it's MS's (current) stable OS, features of Win 8 RP is making 7 looking obsolete fast. At some point, perhaps not immediately, these users will have a critical decision to make, "do I want to be up to date?", or "do I wish to remain behind the times?". Human nature tends goes with the first of the two.

Seriously, I hardly ever boot into Windows 7 any longer, & when I do, it's normally on my notebook that I just equipped with a M4 SSD. If that factor were taken away, I'd mainly be doing that just for updating the OS.

I need to stop, this is Drew's thread, not mine. Need to create my own in regards to this.

Again, many Thanks, Drew! I'm sure our members/viewers will put this one to good use.

I have this Programs Toolbar and Classic Shell. This way either method works, and this is great for me. I can use the method I feel comfortable with for the chore I wish to do. Cool!
