Lightbulb Combine Desktop Rt Clk & Power (button) Options

I had given a Power button on Taskbar here - http://www.forumswindows8.com/custom...skbar-6891.htm

I offer you, now, a way to Rt Clk on the Desktop & have all that Rt Clk normally gives + cascade to Power (button) options as well. Eliminates need to have Power button on Taskbar & combines 2 things into 1.

Credit for these goes to Don from another Tech Forum.

    Hello all,

Back again with another "Power Option", only this one is a cascading menu, placed via registry script in to the "Right Click Context Menu"

And once again, thanks to Vishal for the creation.
View the article/tutorial and a few other tips to add to Windows 7 & 8

Add Cascading Menu for Restart, Shut Down, Hibernate and Other Power Shortcuts in Desktop Context Menu of Windows 7 and 8 - Tweaking with Vishal

    Note: For Windows 7 & 8 only
    Hope you find these useful

So, now, you have 2 choices... Normal Rt Clk on Desktop & Power button on Taskbar OR BOTH via Rt Clk on Desktop

The combined choice, I suggest, is the best, as it has everything one would want w/ no 'configuring'.

    Cheers,
    Drew

This gives one more method to Shutdown and Restart your PC. Now we have many methods to choose from. I will have a hard time deciding which is my preference by October 26th.

As far as that goes I have been asking the Win8 Build Team to put something like this in the final version... maybe I'm not the only 1 asking this of them. Indeed, we'll see what comes down... maybe won't have to add this item, anymore (I hope).

A little late, but thanks for this one, Drew! It gives us another option w/o any clutter whatsoever. I like it!

Yesterday, I think that I've discovered why Win 8 RP was giving BSOD's upon restarting after install (or how to correct it), during the "getting devices ready" period. At 74% was the point of crash, & it was taking 4 to 6 attempts at installing to get a successful one, though there were still random BSOD's.

In the BIOS (on my desktop), I switched the HD controller from ACHI to IDE (what I was running when I began Win 8 CP), ran the install via the Win 7 USB Download Tool (I love that one, too), guess what? No BSOD, everything loaded right the first time. Check out my desktop now:

Starting from scratch again, seeking the best way of running Windows 8 for me. I want to see & try out all of my options, including the default one. For the first 3 months (CP), all that I knew was default, & running fine.

Thanks again for the tip! I had installed it before, but misunderstood how to use it. We live & learn.

Cat, thanks! It's,, really, nice to know things I drop in for y'all are appreciated. Aside from I don't what to say about the picture, it's priceless. Y'all, by now, know I don't like clutter nor anything more arduous or distant than need be.

I guess, there's a lesson learn, good to have BIOS settings a certain way (wink).

I do like this Rt Clk to Power menu best of all such things we've seen.

And, you've just made me say 1 thing, on the heels of what you've said, Cat. You'll be amazed how well & effortlessly Win8 does w/ default. It's astounding how easy, smooth & quick it get to scamper about in (default) Windows8.

You know, even, those desktop icons don't, really, need to show

    Cheers,
    Drew
