Default Help! New problem - youtube freezes

    Hi,

I am watching vidoe on youtube by firefox. But it freezes suddently. Firefox stops running, and no matter where I click, no response. Other programs are running normally. In the center of this vidoe, it says adobe fash is currupt and asks me to send error feedback. After a while, the firefox works, but still cant play vidoe. I sent feedback and click reload, the vidoe begins to reload. But serveral mins later, the problem comes again.

I test on google chrome, no problem, everything is ok. I am not sure its related to the brower or the flash. Can you help me? Many many thanks.

It just happened to me also, while watching a YouTube video. If you have the No Script addon installed, you need to allow for YouTube to play. What happened to me was, it wouldn't run at first, then re-directed me to the YouTube site to view the video, then it played fine.

May just be a technical error on Mozilla's side. It's been known to happen.

Hi Cat, thanks for reply. I guess its a bug of Firefox. Sometimes, firefox would stop running, and I have to restart the browser. I have never met such kind problem with chrome. Hope Mozilla would pay attention to this problem.

Also, make sure that the latest version of Silverlight is installed. Although it's an MS product, it doesn't show on MS Update as an option. The latest Silverlight is here.

    Download Silverlight 5.0.61118 - FileHippo.com

The latest Flash is here. Note that there are IE & non-IE versions for this plugin, as well as 32 & 64 bit for each. Usually, unless a 64 bit Mozilla browser (like Pale Moon or Aurora) is installed, the non-IE 64 bit Flash isn't needed.

    FileHippo.com - Download Free Software

Update Java also (remove the older version first, Oracle recommends this).

Why should I remove older versions of Java from my system?

The latest version of Java (jre-6u32) can be obtained here. Note that the 32 bit version is the most commonly used one, some users will require the 64 bit version. Be sure to accept the license terms & if you're using the No Script addon, to allow Oracle & oracleimg.com (the last, temporary).

    JRE 6u32 Downloads

These will help to improve your Firefox experience.

Java has a 7 download available now that works fine in Win 8 CP. It's not commonly available unless you specifically search for it.

I used to install those type of Java updates, File Hippo always offers them (it checks for known updates at startup). Some users have stated that those versions are more for developers.

    FileHippo.com - Download Free Software

But when I manually check Java for updates or when it offers an update, it's always the 1.6.0.32 version offered (the most recent, a day or two ago). What's the difference between the 1.7.0.4 & what Java itself offers?

That's always an option, LawaBoy. But there's many users, especially after reading Google's recent privacy statement, who won't use the browser. After all, the bottom line of that privacy statement simply means that one has no privacy while using Chrome, or any of Google's products.

I use Gmail only for their free phone service that comes with their free email (plug in download required). Also, a notebook or PC with a mic is necessary, or a headset with mic will do. And I use Google Earth sometimes to print maps. Tried Bing Maps (or Virtual Earth), but the turn by turn directions led my wife 20+ miles into the middle of nowhere. Google does a better job of this.

For the sake of privacy, use IE or Opera if Firefox doesn't work. Opera even has a feature that makes it run fast on slow connections, although it doesn't speed up downloads.
