If you overwrote Win 7 then you might have a folder called windows.old in the C Drive. This folder contains the old OS. There should be a folder called Windows Live Mail. These are your mail messages. Install WLM in Win 8 RP then copy and replace the folder in your new WLM installation. That should replace your Win 8 RP WLM folder with the original WLM folder. If you do not have a windows.old folder, you might be out of luck.
Hi Coldren, welcome!
Have you tried to login your mail app by your windows live mail? If your emails are stored in windows live server, you dont need to import to mail app. Just login your mail app by windows live account, you can see all emails are synchronized.
If I misunderstood, try the method as Ted said.
Thank you. I logged to mail app by windows live mail. Yes, all emails are there. I am sorry. I did such a mistake. Thanks to Ted, too.
Glad your problem is solved. It would not have helped me as I delete emails on the server when I download them. Oh well, thanks for letting us know.
Medico, et.al.,
I have the situation of moving from a Windows 7 machine to a Windows 8 machine and have emails on the windows 7 machine (Windows Live Mail) from several years ago that are not on my current email providers servers.
I can export these emails from Windows Live Mail . . . how can I get them on the Windows 8 machine to use in the Windows 8 Mail App? Or am I out of luck?
Thank you all for your time.
Sincerely,
ckdouglas
Export your Address Book or/and your saved email to a flash drive, then when you're finished setting up Windows Live Mail on the new OS, do an import of those files into Win-8.
You may have to export your address book in .csv format for the Export/Import operation to work right.
good luck,
