Many people active the built in firewall in Windows 8. However, here I recommend you to turn it off, cause it is useless for home computers, and it takes computer resources when it is active.

Firewall can't protect your computer from being attacked by virus or Trojans. It is the protection of your computer from being attacked by attacks from outside of your computer, which means when a hacker attacks you, the firewall may prevent those attacks outside. However, what's the ratio that a hacker will attack your computer? Nearly 0%. What's more, the attacks from virus or Trojan are inside attack. When you download the virus or Trojan, they don't attack you before you run them.

You are unknown to hackers, and your computer resources is useless, cause your computer is unstable(You start and turn off computer regularly.) What a hacker want is a stable server which runs 7x24 hours. Remember that a server is the target of hacker, instead of home computer.

BTW, Windows 8 firewall is weak. Hackers know it very well. If you need a firewall to protect you from hacker, I strongly recommend you to use a professional firewall on the market, like Comodo Firewall, or something like that.

So just turn off your built-in firewall of Windows 8, you may enjoy more computer resources and faster network speed.
