Does anyone know of a quick control; app that would enable you to switch wifi on/off with one click.?Currently I have to go through charm bar - settings - wifi connection - disconnect.
Android have many apps to quick start or reach controls with minimal input.

Is this a laptop or desktop? If a laptop, there should be a FN key combo to use to enable/disable wi-fi. If a desktop, that has built in wi-fi the procedure should be the same. If the desktop is using a wi-fi dongle, the app it self should be running in the notification area, open that and turn on/off wi-fi that way.

Thanks. Yes it is a laptop, but I have yet to discover an 'F' key for wifi on/off in Windows 8 or on the laptop itself. I (shock, horror) may have to read the online manual. If anyone else has an Asus Vivobook, perhaps they could let me know!

What is the make and model, exact model number of your laptop?

If you look at the F keys across the top, on all laptop and notebooks, there are symbols to correlate to a function. On my Samsung it is the F9 key, on that key it has an upside down triangle with a line down the middle coming out of the bottom. Each laptop manufacturer uses something different so there is a plethora of symbols being used. Here are some examples of what to look for across the top of the F keys.

my pavillion has a light on the f12 button which is good...you can tell at a glance if the wifi is on or off.

It is an Asus Vivobook i3 1.8 mHz. And thanks, I identified the key which switches the wifi off - Fn - F2. Sorted.

This thread is getting a little bit old, but this may still help someone, someplace, someday, etc, etc, etc.

On my little Acer Netbook, I have Wireless G built in. It also has a wired LAN port and I use a USB Wireless N-300 adapter. From time to time I have either the need or desire to switch between the three types of LAN connection. So what to do?

Actually, what I've done is make a desktop shortcut to each of the three LAN possibilities. I just stick them all in the upper right corner of my desktop for ease of access. So I can just click on the one that I want to Enable at any time.
I can also use any of the shortcuts to "Disable" a connection.

This gives me full control over my three LAN connections with just a couple of mouse clicks.

Cheers Mates! Happy Networking!
