If you want to have a free Windows 8 OEM, you should first get a geniune key for it. Otherwise, you can only get Windows OEM with payment. Maybe you can get the exact price on Microsoft official website.

To install Windows 8 OEM, you must ensure your thinkpad has reached the minimun requirements of windows 8. if your thinkpad equipments have meets the requirement, you can do that now. BTW, in case unexpected annoyances, you'd better install windows 8 genuine version.
