View Full Version : Missing some Kernel DLL after restart during windows 8 installation

Hi all,

I am trying to install Windows 8 RP instead of windows XP. After deinstalling XP with a USB-Flash Drive OS (Ubuntu), I installed Windows 8 RP. It said I need to restart the computer. But when I restart, it comes to the Installation Menu of Windows 8 RP and when I change the Boot option in BIOS to Hard Drive it says I'm missing some Kernel DLL or something.

Please help. Thank you.

Why change anything in the Bios. If your flash is plugged in, simply do not hit any key to boot to the Flash Drive. The system will then bypass the Flash and continue. If nothing is plugged in the system will then skip the Flash item and continue to the HD.

For example my Bios is set to:

1) DVD or CD

2) USB Device

3) HD.

I just leave it that way and my system boots to the HD, unless I have a DVD or USB device plugged in, then it tells me.

what if I'm using a USB flash drive?

Don't change the boot order, Leave it as it was and leave the flash drive plugged in to allow Win 8 RP to complete it's installation before removing the flash drive.

Your system might display option like my system display to press F9 to get boot options.

Then you can select with what you want to boot... :)
