Windows 8 Enterprise N has leaked to torrenting sites and has been confirmed by serveral that it's the real deal. We are yet to test this ISO so we cannot confirm whether it is real or fake. The torrent is x64 and a rather small 2.83GB in size.

Just about the same pattern as the Windows 7 release. How long before a loader for it appears? It only took about a day for Windows 7. I suppose it's from China again.

That is rather small for a 64 bit Windows 8. RP x64 is 3.27GB. Kind of odd.

Wonder if this is a legit OS? I've never used a torrent service to download Windows, many has reported these to contain malware/other dangerous unwanted software, such as password recorders. I'd prefer to wait until the real OS is released.

The only OS's that I've downloaded through uTorrent were Linux OS's, where the distro required it. Slackware, for instance, is well over a 4GB download, being a free OS, it's a cost control thing. If one prefers, a DVD can be ordered for $10. They simply cannot afford to keep servers running for these massive downloads, some others works the same way.

Once through getting an OS like this, I remove the app, it's a security risk to leave it installed.

If I'm not mistaken, the "N" versions were the Chinese ones on the TechNet site, as by accident, I grabbed a XP Pro N version. Don't recall the size difference, but there are apps on US/Canada versions of Windows not allowed on the "N" versions. Probably a government censorship deal.

My belief is that we should not discuss these illegal torrent downloads. Some members may believe that we are legitimizing these illegal sites, which is definitely not so by any stretch of the imagination.

I DO NOT want to encourage anyone to use these sites, and honestly if these sites show up in this Forum I will delete the links!

We want to maintain our Forum legitimacy and stay on the good side of MS. Discouraging these sites is a great start for that.

In support of Ted's post. But, as a word of discouragement to those who want to try the pirated download.- I have been looking at the screenshots on another forum. The download is, imho, not a fake. It is a beta testers release. Probably close to final. But, the give away is the watermark. Even on an OEM, the build number would not normally be shown there.

I'm with Ted on this one. Download (or Torrent) links to this WILL be removed. If I catch them before Ted, I'll remove such links myself. Hopefully, any other Moderator & Administrator will do the same, we do have an image to protect & preserve.

Staying on MS's good side is important also, as they have those working for them, some at the corporate office, some from home, looking at forums & other sites for illegal activity & download links within them. The folks at MS are not those we want on our bad side. I realize that some forums/other sites doesn't care, but we do.
