Hi,

Two problems:

DVD discs are not auto played by Media Player. As well as many MPG files are also not playing with it. Only Audio is played , but not the video.

Why can't I play mpg files in Media Player in windows 8?

Thanks.

Media Player is no longer able to playback any DVD formats. That has been removed from Media Player. For DVD playback you have to use Media Center, an add-on to Win 8 RP.

Go to Control Panel, Programs and Features. Select Add Windows Features. Under Media, click on Media Center. Select I already have a product key and use this product key: MBFBV-W3DP2-2MVKN-PJCQD-KKTF7

The full method is shown here (http://news.cnet.com/8301-10805_3-57445533-75/how-to-add-media-center-to-windows-8-release-preview/).

We have actually been discussing this for quite some time (months) and have discussed it in many different threads.

WMP 12 in Win 8 no longer supports playing DVD Disks or Files. Standard mpg should play OK
