Hi all,

I've installed Win 8 RP. Windows Media player stopped working, so I refreshed my system.

However, after refresh, Windows Update cant work. When I click on Windows Update, starts processing and I have use the Task Manager to stop and close it.

Can anyone suggest anything?

Do a repair of the OS. If, that doesn't do it, wipe it out & re-install.

A Refresh will only work if the original installation files are not corrupted. I suspect yours might have been. I would start from scratch and download the ISO file again, burn it to DVD, boot to the DVD and start over.

I tried troubleshooter to see if any error message, and tried to go to safe mode. None of them works. It seems that I have to re-install.

That is the best choice, but like I said I would download the ISO file again and start from scratch.

Shariff25, glad to hear that you're up & running again!

Normally, given that all (or most) worked to begin with, a clean install is what's called for. I've done it several times, the Refresh did no good whatsoever, & the Reset takes longer than a Clean Install.

Now, since you have a nice clean, working install, you need to create a Disk Image (Backup) of it. This will give you a fallback point should something breaks again, & you'll be up & running in 10 to 15 minutes.
