I planed to install windows 8 release preview. But when I try to activate with my product key it shows an error saying "0x80072f8f Security Error".

In the activation dialog box, it asks me to go to Control Panel to learn how to activate Windows in some other way, but I could not find that either.

Please help.

We have discussed this in numerous threads, but I will repeat it one last time. When you insert your key during the installation, Win 8 RP is automatically activated. There is no further activation necessary. You have to enter the key during installation exactly as it appears on the download site. When you do that, there is no further action required.

This particular error code (discussed in the very next thread (http://www.forumswindows8.com/windows-updates-activation/error-0x80072f8f-when-activating-windows-8-rp-6769.htm)) is related to the time of the PC. Details of a possible fix are listed there.

If you get 0x80072f8f code, that means you should check time/zone, correct them, and then reboot.

If you still get 0x80072f8f, please run

> licensingdiag -report diag.txt -log diag.cab

in a command window and share the outputs.

Also, yours might be an installation failure. Unfortunately sometimes the download is corrupt. Sometimes burning the ISO file to DVD does not go well. Sometimes unexpected things happen. If nothing else solves your problem a new Clean Install may be needed. The proper method is shown here.
