I'm running Windows 8 RP in VirtualBox and it works fine in most respects, however the App store icon on the start page boring me a lot. When I click the App Store icon, the screen turns blue and shows an icon of a bag. It stays like this for around 5-10 seconds and then just goes straight back to the start page. No app store appears!

Any solutions? I know someone must have experienced the same with me, so plz help.

Many apps are not ready yet. The app store, I've heard, is one of them.

It should be done by the time of the Full Release in October.

Win 8 RP is a beta OS. Beta OS's have problems and are incomplete. Even though the app store kind of works for one person does not mean it will necessarily work for the next person. This is very dependent on what other S/W and H/W are on the 2 setups. This is one of the reasons I never Upgrade from one OS to another OS, even if there is an Upgrade path. Any problems with the original OS can be carried forward to the new OS. Why would anyone want to start a new OS with inherent problems carried forward from another OS. IMHO that is silly!

Whew, I just got back from Win-8/RP/32 on my laptop.

Now I know why the App Store is not for me. Yes it did come up, after several seconds of the rotating balls (hourglass replacement) and all the shops were open for business. However when I tried to install the FREE weather app, it refused to install unless I gave it my Microsoft Account and password. CRAP!!!!
I don't have such an account and really don't like being forced to get one. So I won't! I refuse to join Facebook and Twitter too.

Screw that! I get my weather through my iGoogle screen, and a lot more too.
