Hi everyone,

I can't access the NetApp SMB shares.

I have 2 Windows 8 computer, use different accounts, but it is never possible to access the shares, "Access is denied". I have no problems to access the shares from Windows 7.

How I can fix this? Thanks in advance.

How did you install Win 8 RP? Give the exact steps you used please. This could be an installation problem although perhaps shares is not complete yet. Not sure because I do not use shares.

Hi Maribelly,

Welcome to this Windows 8 forums.

Does this issue occur while accessing with all the files or a particular file?

Follow these steps to give permissions to the folder. Hope this helps.

a) Right-click on the folder which you’re unable to access and select Properties.
b) Click on ‘Security’ tab and under ‘Group or user names’ click on ‘Edit’.
c) Click on ‘Add’ and type ‘everyone’.
d) Click on ‘Check names’ and then click ‘OK’.
e) Select ‘everyone’ and under ‘Allow’ select ‘Full control’ and click on ‘Apply’ and Click ‘Ok’.

The Advanced Sharing might help as well. Search box, type advanced sharing.

I have tried the method that sunyekerry suggested. That works. Thanks to all.

Glad things worked for you. I believe Advanced Sharing adds proper permissions in a wider area. The method you used will allow you to share folders one at a time, but may take quite a while to do on 2 separate PC's. Advanced Sharing might help to share items more quickly.
