I installed windows 8 RP and dont install any antivirus. So I use windows defender. But there is a problem. When I run Windows Defender's Quickscan, there is no result. If I scan again, it gives results of scan. So I have to run Windows Defender's Quickscan a second time to get results.

Is it normal?

Generally no, but since this is a beta OS, anything is possible. Win 8 will be released this fall. As long as the scan will go after clicking twice and does the scan, I might just let it go for now. To fix that you might have to do a full Clean Install.

Generally, windows defender will protect our computer from antivirus and other security problems, but now Windows 8 RP is a Beta OS, MS will soon release the final version to fix those unexpected issues. For security you need to install one other security software on your computer before MS release it.
