Hi, I have just installed the release preview and have been trying for about 3 hours to get my wireless internet working and still no luck. I previously had the developer preview installed on a VM and it worked fine... I now have this new one as a dual boot with windows 7. The internet and wireless works fine on windows 7 but when I boot up to windows 8 it says connections are available but just wont connect to my network and it says "cannot connect to this network" whenever I try.

I am using a WEP Shared connection which i think may be the problem?

Let me know if you need any more info from me, I have tried everything i can think of, connecting to the wireless network manually entering all the details such as SSID, password etc but still no luck... Could it be because windows 7 allows it to be shared whereas there is no option in windows 8 for this instead only 'open' ?

The driver is up to date as I did the check on windows 8.

Please someone help... it is stressing me out!

many thanks

Can you use something other than WEP? Can you use WPA security on your router?

Mine found my router and all I had to do was enter my password and it connected.

Thanks for your reply...

I suppose I could but should I really have to do this? and will I need to change the settings on all my devices and laptops once I change it? seems kind of a pain to do unless there is another solution?

thanks

WPA is a much stronger security setting, probably would be better to use it anyway. If your password does not change, you should connect from all devices without much effort.

I believe both WEP and WPA require a PW. I know WPA does. I can think of no other reason why it is not connecting. In fact my Win 8 (both CP and RP) connect better than my Win 7.

What about connecting to networks on which we are not the adminsitrators?

I am trying to do work at a customers site; they only have a WEP Shared network... Is there any work around?
