I was running windows 8 Consumer Preview and I would like to upgrade to windows 8 release preview. After going through the setup process, I got a screen that is supposed to give me options about the installation, however, the only option that it gives me is to remove everything! Why is that the only option available and how can I fix it?

This is because you are attempting to install from within Windows. Download the ISO file and burn it to DVD. Then you will get the options you need.

Yes a Clean Install (the only way to do it properly) will delete everything there. Back up your data to a flash drive until after the installation then put it back.

This is a beta OS for testing. It is not a released OS. There should be little or no important data in this beta OS.

Beta testing involves more risk of loosing things, so you should not be keeping important data or doing important work in Win 8 RP.
