Hey,
Apps in Windows 8 can't access Internet. I am not sure that its related to Avast Internet security ver 7. I removed it and re-installed it, then things like the Store still do not work.
Several other apps such as one that tries to access pictures on Skydrive do not work, either.
They all say the can't connect.
How can I fix this?

Hi,
Remove it in safe mode with the special tool found online. Reboot to normal mode then set Windows Defender and Windows Firewall service to automatic and start them too.
That will fix it, unless you have further wonkiness going on. Let me know and we will fix it all up still, no problems.

Avast IS 7 is no good on Windows 8 CP, as I bought it myself solely for it's virtual browser. From Day 1, it was a PITA. The downloaded version wouldn't install, had to install the Free version & enter my license key for it to work. Even then, the Firewall wasn't properly working.
Removed it & got my money back. Still was having issues, so I decided it best to refresh the OS. Well, I had to use my install disk to finish the refresh, as the boot time scanner quarantined a couple of system files & I didn't know it. Normally, this is what I'd advise you to do, but with Windows 8 RP being reported to being released this week, you may as well wait for it.
Windows 8 RP will be far more functional than Windows 8 CP is. The Metro Apps should work, and many more device drivers will be in the database, although a few more may still need to be added. Remember, until Windows 8 is Retail, it's still officially still a pre-release OS, & should be treated as such.
This means having whatever OS that was/is still on the computer backed up for safety, or at a minimum, having either the recovery disk set that the user usually burns themselves, or your Windows install disk to re-install with.
Should you have issues with Windows 8 RP, always feel free to post back. We are here to help all of our members as much as possible, that's part of our mission here.

I would recommend the native AV/AM that comes with Win 8 CP. Windows Defender is installed and enabled when Win 8 CP is installed. When you install a different AV app it auto disables WD.
I would uninstall Avast for now and let WD do it's work. Perhaps when Win 8 RP or Win 8 is released Avast will be more well behaved with it.
