Hey guys,

I have a nvidia GeForce 460 on my computer but today its screen went all fuzzy. At the bottom of the screen "Nvidia Display Driver Has Stopped Responding and Successfully Recovered', does this mean my graphics card broken? Never had this before and do not know how to fix. any helps would be appreciated.

Shaun,

I'm getting this occasionally w/ my Nvidia card, too. Even though it is using the correct, actual Win8 driver. Best advice, live w/ it (no don't replace the card, highly doubt anything wrong w/ it), just wait 'til Win8 RP (Beta2) & see what the scenario is then. When mine does it, just goes black for a moment then all's well & there's the same message.

Remember, we are currently working w/ just the 1st beta. Only a couple wks & we'll see if this stops.

Cheers,
Drew

I've been having the same problems. I have a 570 that was running the drivers 295.73. Display drivers stopped responding everything I opened WOW. I switched to the 296.10 and it still does the same thing. Any other solutions anywhere?

The Nvidia site lists 296.17 drivers for Win 8 (http://blogs.nvidia.com/2012/03/nvidia-kicks-off-regular-windows-8-driver-updates/)

Hi V,

Make sure you've updated the Microsoft’s Windows Update as NVIDIA has released their first driver update for NVIDIA GeForce and Quadro GPUs after the release of Microsoft‘s Windows 8 Consumer Preview.

This is closely related to 0x116 bsod, even though no bsod happens. The cause is almost always other system drivers behaving poorly and not allowing the graphics subsystem to do its work. The graphics driver tries to recover and usually does. Or a bsod can actually happen.

With the next beta, Win 8 RP, due out on Friday (rumored), it may not be worth expending too much time on this problem.

When Win 8 RP will require a complete clean install so be ready.

This will also give a clean install. We have been told by MS that there will be no upgrade path from Win 8 CP to Win 8 RP

I won't ban you, I won't argue w/ you but, I will close this thread. We cannot have people being swayed or confused by incorrect comments or anything that even implies upgrade paths w/ Beta OSs is "OK". It isn't, period.
