In win 7 I played without any troubles, but now I`ve installed Windows 8 and everythings seems OK, I can play in SINGLE PLAYER mode, but when I try to play in Gameranger, I enter the room, Start the game and it gives me the following error: "Could not initialize graphics system, make sure that your video card and driver are compatible with directdraw". I tried almost everything already, change compatibility, resolution etc. Updated AoE, my video card but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?

Read all the problems with graphics drivers on this early beta release. If you "Upgraded" to this early beta release of Win 8 CP, you made a mistake. Beta releases are for testing purposes only. I would suggest you reinstall your original OS and be happy with that until Win 8 is finally released sometime in October.

I know about that. But there is nothing wrong with solving a problem and the rest of the world :) including myself ofcourse.

Like I said, there have been significant graphic card problems. You can read all about them in the graphic card Forum and the Driver Forum. I suspect your problem is similar to all the others.
