Hi all,

Does anyone know how do I remove the password from my local user account?

I have a poor memory and I have different passwords for different account. I am always worried that i will forget the password. Also, my computer is a desktop at home and all of family will use it. We dont need to set a password. This is on the test operating system Windows 8, exactly its windows 8 consumer preview.

Please resolve my issue with relevant answers. Thanks a lot!

See if this works:

To remove your password for a local account:
1. On the Metro Start screen type: password
2. Below the search box click Settings
3. Click Change Your Windows Password
4. Click Make changes to my account in PC settings
5. Click Change your password
6. Enter your current password, and click next.
7. When asked for a new password leave it blank and click next.
8. Click Finish

Ted,

It will not allow it to be left blank. Can be changed but, not removed.

Cheers,

Posted this a couple of hours ago (Ted responded)
Type "Control userpasswords2" on the screen, or, from the desktop, right click the left hand corner (Metro icon) and select run and type the command)
Tick the box for "Users must enter a user name..etc"

Select your username in the smaller box below.
UNtick the "Users must enter a user name...etc"

Even w/ it unchecked, it will continue to ask for the P/W... that's why I hadn't mentioned this.

It doesn't for me! Switch on - go and make coffee - waiting on desktop, logged in. (Live log in)
