I have changed the settings so I don't have to sign in on bootup, However, when I leave the computer to make a cup of coffee and come back I have to enter the password again. This is a nuisance. I do not have an iPad or mobile. I do trust myself at home! How do I turn off this feature?

Are you perhaps talking about the Screen Saver Log in screen?
Right Click Desktop, Personalize, Screen Saver, Uncheck "On Resume Show Log In Screen"

The second option did not work either.

Ty, you might have to wait until the Win 8 RP is released in early June. This next beta will require a clean install. Perhaps when you install this next beta you can set it up to not require a password and it will work the way you would like.
I do not have any other ideas at this time.

Posted this in another thread:
Type "Control userpasswords2" on the screen, or, from the desktop, right click the left hand corner (Metro icon) and select run and type the command)
Tick the box for "Users must enter a user name..etc"
Select your username in the smaller box below.
UNtick the "Users must enter a user name...etc"
Apply.

Darn, I should have re-read the thread, I though we had already mentioned that. Good thought Dave.

I did find a simpler way following on from Sunny's advice above: "Right Click Desktop, Personalize, Screen Saver, Change power settings, Choose when to turn off the display, Turn off the display(Never)".
Just do this,
Turn off display(never), and
Put the computer to sleep(never).

I'm so glad to hear you've fixed it. Hopefully we'll see you around here often.
