Its weird thing. I did not install IE 9 on my pc with windows 8 CP. But I see IE 9 in metro, and cant find IE 10. Once I click it, it says "internet explorer is stopped working".

I have tried to download IE 9 before, but not install sucessfully because not support this system (windows 8). Does this have anything with this problem?

Any idea for this problem? Thanks!

leos, Windows 8 CP doesn't come with IE9, nor can you install it on the OS. I just verified that.

Look at the lower left corner, you'll see the IE symbol. Click onto it, you'll have IE10.

Joe, Welcome to our Forum.

Which icon are you clicking on that does nothing? Are you talking about on the Metro UI or on the Desktop UI?

Open the COntrol Panel
open "Default programs" - Set your default program
Click IE and, at the bottom of the window, "Set this program as the default"

now if you log off and on, or restart, I think you will find the metro IE icon.

Even when I set it up as the default program, IE 10 will not open ... Fire Fox, Safari, and Google Chrome all open up.

I suspect your installation is corrupt. If this is a new install, I suspect you probably did an Upgrade, rather than a Clean Install of your old OS. There are far more problems with the Upgrade to this BETA OS. Upgrading to a beta OS to test it just does not make sense to me. In order to test an OS properly, you want a very clean, pristine installation, and that is not an Upgrade.

To do a proper test, I would suggest doing a Custom (Clean) install. You might wish to wait until Win 8 RP is release in early June. This new Beta will require a Custom (Clean) install anyway. Win 8 CP will deactivate shortly after that time. it will just stop working so you might as well just use the OS the way it is until that time then Custom (Clean) install Win 8 RP at that time. Obviously all apps will have to be installed as well.

As long at least one of your other browsers are working for you, Ted's advice stands. By now, you probably have software installed & the OS fairly how you want it. Wait until June, when the Windows 8 RP comes out & do a full, clean install.

Note that with Windows 8 CP, there are many Metro items still yet to work, or work properly. Windows 8 RP will be fairly close to the finished product, mabye a few minor changes, then it's going to the OEM's for pre-installation on new computers around June or July at latest. It's going to take that long to have millions of computers of all types ready by October.

The IE 10 Icon
So you can now see the icon, but it does not open?

That's what I was wondering about, but after Ted posted, I felt that explained things. Probably a corrupt install.

As far as IE is concerned, I could care less, as I don't use the browser on Windows 7/Windows 8 CP, except for certain apps, such as online scanners. On my two main installs of Windows 7 Pro x64, I've disabled IE altogether, as it's not needed for updating.

Thanks to Everybody. The Icon is there ... I even tried re-installing the Windows 8, SFC, etc. Clicking on the icon does nothing (except a brief spinning circle). I'm sold on waiting until June unless I see/hear a better option.

I see no reason if everything else is working to your satisfaction and you have other means to sign onto the internet, why bother. You would just have to go through the whole process again in early June anyway. After all, we are just testing a beta OS for now anyway. For most users with normal PC's with keyboards and a mouse, the Desktop UI is where you will probably spend most of your time if you are like most of us anyway.

That's what I say, my libraries aren't working, but I save my items into identically named folders on a Data partition. I don't even notice them not working any longer.

I don't use these on Windows 7, either. June is coming soon (91F here today), it's getting ready for showtime.
