Microsoft not only revealed the upcoming versions of Windows 8 this week, but also detailed its Windows 8 Enterprise edition, which packs several exclusive features that will be enticing for large businesses. Windows 8 Enterprise was only mentioned as a sort of footnote when Microsoft shared what versions of Windows 8 will be available, but for business customers Windows 8 Enterprise is far superior to Windows 8 Pro. Many of the features are aimed at helping IT departments manage and secure corporate network access while allowing employees to use more consumerized devices of their own choosing.

Here lets take a look at these features of Windows 8 Enterprise. (http://www.forumswindows8.com/info/windows-8-enterprise-6-features-250.html)

The thing MS does not say yet is the number or volume of licensing that would qualify for the Enterprise edition, but I would suspect it to be fairly large. I suspect these licensing requirements might put this edition beyond the means of most small businesses. For these small businesses, the Pro edition will look more attractive at this time.

It is entirely too early to know for sure about any of these licensing issues. As we get closer to fall perhaps MS will bring forward more info to answer these questions for business customers. I suspect MS would love to attract business customers that have yet to upgrade from XP.
