Win 8 CP does not have a driver base that includes all devices available. This is a beta OS after all and is far from complete. It seems that HP is one of those manufacturers that is slow to support their devices with new OS's. You might try the Win 7 drivers.

Control Panel...Devices and Printers...Right Click the Printer, and REMOVE it from the system. Then uninstall and reinstall the software.

Hope this help for you.

I have the same wireless printer (HP D110a), and the best way I've found to scan items is via the HP Solution Center desktop icon.

Much of the functions of multifunction devices is derived from the S/W loaded for that device, not from the driver. The drivers give basic communication between the device and the OS, but do not load the features of the device, that comes from the S/W loaded for the device.

This is true whether we're talking printer/scanners or other devices. As noted in the last post, it was not the driver that solved the problem, but the extra HP S/W that solved the poster's problem.
