I have just done a complete recovery on win 8 having successfully connected to IE prior to this. Since doing the recovery msn is not responding. I can update AVG but that is about it. I downloaded mozilla firefox 11 on my win 7 platform and installed on win 8 and works straight away. Anyone else having problems with Internet Explorer on win 8 in slowness?

At this early stage, I would do a complete reinstall rather than a recovery. Since you are having a problem after the recovery, you have nothing to loose. Are you sure of the download? I would be inclined to download the iso file once again (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/iso). Burn the file to DVD at slow speed (x4 max) again and reinstall to get a pristine. It sure seems like you are having too many problems that are coming from somewhere, and a corrupt install could be coming from a corrupt download.
