Are you sure you are connected to the internet? If so, there may be a corruption with WU. You might be further ahead by reinstalling Win 8 from scratch. I would download the iso file once again (http://www.forumswindows8.com/news/official-ms-download-site-win-8-cp-beta-5357.htm), burn it to DVD, and do a Custom (Clean) Install to end with a pristine install.

My own Win-8 CP has been getting updates from MS, almost since I installed it.
