I'm running windows 8 consumer preview. But there is a problem. Whene I try to shut down, the screen says i cant shut down until the computer eventually BSODs. Also, it will say it when I restart. Any suggestion? Thanks!

You probably have a corrupted install. This installs so easily I would simply reinstall the OS. I would however download the iso again from the approved MS site (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/iso) and burn it to DVD again, then use the DVD to reinstall Win 8 CP

As Ted says, you have corrupted install... so I also recommend for re-installation.
But before re-installation try sfc /scannow command and see if it works ;

I think I've re-installed Win-8/CP/32 twice and Win-8/CP/64 four times, so far, to fix things that got mucked up somehow.
The installs were clean and perfect, but some added program messed things up.
It's much faster to re-install Win-8 if you have a Backup Image file of a good install, saved to a second partition or even a second Internal HD.
External drives (USB) are way too slow for fast Restores.
I've also, started making a manual System Restore Point, before I install anything new, just in case that install doesn't turn out right.
As far as Shutdown is concerned (back on topic again) I will only use the Quick Shutdown shortcut with the icon in the left end of the Taskbar.
It's quick, efficient, closes all programs and goes right to Power Off without any additional effort on the part of the user.
