Hi all,
There is no button of shutdown and restart on windows 8. This is not easy for some users. Here I intrduce ten ways.
1. ALT + F4
This method is simple and easy. I take this way most.
2. Win+C, then click "setting", and you can see "power". Also, you can use "Win + I" to find "power"
3. Ctrl+Alt+Del
4. Create Shutdown Restart Shortcuts or Tiles
Create a shortcut to shutdown or restart, on your Windows 8 desktop and give it a nice icon. Once the shortcut is created, you can drag and pin it to your taskbar.
5. Shutdown or Restart by HotKey
Right-click on the shortcuts you have created (above) and select Properties. Here in the Shortcut Key space, click the hotkey you want assigned to the action. This will automatically appear in the field.
6. Define Power buttons and lid closure actions
You can via Power Options in the Control Panel, define what the Power button will do when you press it, or what should happen when you close the lid of your laptop.
7. Shutdown or Restart by the Context Menu
Fellow MVP, there is a ninth way to shutdown or restart your Windows 8 computer. And that is by editing the registry, to add these options to your desktop right-click context menu.
8. Shutdown by Command Prompt
if you happen to have your command prompt open, to shutdown your PC type shutdown / s and to restart your PC type shutdown / r and then hit Enter.
9. Define Power buttons and lid closure actions
You can via Power Options in the Control Panel, define what the Power button will do when you press it, or what should happen when you close the lid of your laptop.
10. Shutdown Windows 8 from the System Tray
This light-weight portable tool, will sit quietly in your taskbar notification area and give you options to shutdown, restart lock and log off.
