View Full Version : Trying to secure my router in Widndows 8, but I am having trouble logging
I am trying to secure my router in newly installed Windows 8, but having trouble logging into my network. I've tried many times to hit the reset button on the router and tried various admin account and password, but unlucky so far. any suggestion on this? more detailed more better and many thanks in advance.

In most cases, you address your router with a URL number, something like, 192.168.2.1
That will bring up the control panel for your router. If you know the ID and password, you can then log in and make and changes that you want or need to make.
Have you tried all that?
To do that, your router must be connected to your computer by a LAN cable.
Let us know, where you stand with all that. Eh?

Mine is 192.168.1.1 (Linksys)
Default User name can be left blank
Default password: admin
As I said this is for Linksys. You can do a search on line for your router manufacturer user manual to get the sign on info for your specific router.
