View Full Version : Transcend TS-PDU3 USB3.0 Expansion Card not working in Windows 8 Consumer Preview

Hi guys,

I'm currently having an issue to getting my Transcend TS-PDU3 USB3.0 Expansion Card to work properly in Windows 8. Whenever I plug an hard drive or anything into it, the drives don't appear on the Computer. I've tried updating the driver but that's not done anything. Any ideas please?

The card is working now. Not sure what fixed it, but it's working again.

I wish I know how it started working again, so I could share on here if anyone else as the issue. Haven't figure out my Lexmark printer yet tho.

Did you perhaps reboot after updating the driver and that's when the card began working? Sometime these type of problems are very perplexing. Jean, have you tried going to the manufacturer's web site and downloading the newest drivers available in the correct bitness for your system (32 bit or 64 Bit)?

Yes, I did both…
Just have to wait for either Microsoft or Trancend to address this issue… I woul even be willing to test beta drivers if they existed !

The card has a yellow exclamation mark on the device manager again. So I'm guessing you just have to be lucky.

Edit. It works again now, lol. I'm guessing due to the fact the Windows 8 is just at a Consumer Preview at the moment it's not going to be 100% right until it's released fully.

It's weird it wont let me install the proper driver for this. Instead it only installs Microsofts own USB3 driver which is date from February but the official driver by Transcend has been updated at the end of May (31st) but if I try to update driver through Device manager it just says driver is up to date.

Reason I'm trying to update the driver is because it's stopped working again, with the yellow ! on it. I tried uninstalling the driver to see if it'd let me install with the transcend driver but it just installs itself with the microsoft driver.

I would go to the manufacturer's site and download the latest driver there (http://www.transcend-info.com/Support/DLCenter/index.asp?axn=SRH2&ModNo=283&ItemID=TS-PDU3). They should show the installation method. In fact it's probably a .exe file. You will not have to update it through Device Manager.
