Hi all,

I am using a cable that is normally plugged into (and therefore currently working!) my HD Tivo. The TV is set to the input normally used by the HDMI cable for the tivo. After plugging into my laptop, I press the Fn+F4 keys, and a small graphic in the lower right of the screen pops up to indicate it's trying to clone the display, but nothing happens.

Computer Specs:
- Vista home premium, 32 Bit, service pack 1, 3.5 windows experience score
- NVidia GeForce 8400M GS with 831MB available graphics memory, driver up-to-date
- 2 GB RAM
- 2.2 GHz

Have you tried setting the the screens up in the Nvidia control panel on your laptop?

Since this is a beta OS there is no guarantee that all the features of Win 7 are present yet in Win 8 CP and in fact many are indeed missing. For this stage of development Win 8 CP is surprisingly smooth and complete, but is still lacking finishing touches, and that may very well be one of those finishing touches that is lacking. You might be out of luck.

I have the similar problem... I have a 3d led tv and it was working fine as a monitor when i had win 7, xp installed on the same laptop... i just installed the consumer preview of win 8 and everything looks smooth but i cant seem to connect to the tv ... everytime i plug in the hdmi cable it shows a blank screen,,, i have a nvidia graphic card with latest driver ... which i tried un-installing and reinstalling already, also tried playing with settings in the control panel... wont work
