#Attempt to set the printer to online. This may not often work but it's the first action to take. Go to "Settings" and then "Printers". Right click on the "Printer" and select "Use Printer Online". Test the printer to see if it now prints.
# 2Clear any print jobs. Double click on the "Printer" after performing the above step. Go to the "Printer Menu" and select "Cancel All Documents". There could have been a stuck print job that would cause the printer to go offline. Try once again to set the printer back online and try printing a test page.
# 3Turn on the printer. Make sure the printer is turned on and turn it off, wait a minute and then turn it on again. Check to see if the is jammed. Check all the network connections to make sure none are loose. Repeat the above steps again if necessary.

I have had this problem repeatedly with Windows 8, printers going offline. One printer that I have been able to get working (a Brother, compared to an HP that is impossible unless directly connected) appears to go offline when the computer is left alone too long and goes to sleep. When restarted, the printer indication is offline, there is no option to "Use Printer Online". There are no documents waiting to print. Turning it off and then back on does not clear the offline indication. The only thing that works is to add the printer again. Getting rather old to go through that process at least once daily.

I am experiencing similar issues with Windows 8 connected via network to a Xerox DocuPrint N4525 PS. The Windows 8 system shows it "Offline" though it can connected to the DocuPrint webpage for this printer. Running the Troubleshoot does not find anything wrong with this printer. Any help is appreciated.

Maggard, Welcome to the Forum!

A quick search reveals that there's no Windows 8 (x64) drivers for this printer. Probably isn't for the 32 bit version either. However there are Windows 7 drivers. Download the Windows 7 drivers for your bit version, right click & choose "Run as Administrator". If that doesn't work, then try "Troubleshoot Compatibility". These are going to be your best options. It's a 2001 model printer.

DocuPrint N4525 Drivers & Downloads (http://www.support.xerox.com/support/docuprint-n4525/downloads/enus.html?operatingSystem=win8x64)

This is a fairly old printer, it has driver support for Windows 2000 & 3.1. If my suggestion doesn't work, & Windows 8 didn't install basic print & scan drivers for it, you may be out of luck.

It's really a miracle that it ran on Windows 7, given it's age. Here's a Xerox Compatibility list of popular printers, I cannot find yours in this list.

Right click what you want to print and save to documents. Go to documents and right click and print. This will work because documents is offline. HP Envy 5530 printer. Hp support was no help
