I just installed windows 8 on a fresh 4tb drive. I had lots of errors in my media from moving it around so much.I have two 2TB drives with all my media on them. I would like it if these drives could be treated like a memory stick and just have a large scale 'import' of all music, pictures and video. It's okay if each happens seprately. I don't mind doing the basic manually either. I tried dropping a 2tb onto an external drive dock but it still shows up as internal.

How do I import all the media? I don't want to copy and paste or drag and drop. I want windows to intelegently organize all my movies pictures and music the same way it does when I plug a memory stick in with pictures or video on it.

Sounds like you're trying to re-design Windows. That's not going to happen!

Copy and Paste will still be your best bet, to get all the data files into the folders where you want them to reside.

I use a DOS Batch File, to back up all my data files to an external 1TB drive. They are in the same form that they are on my C: drive. If necessary, I can even do a reverse copy, putting every file back into the folders that they came from. I use the old familiar XCOPY program to do the work.

Good Luck!

PS: Google announced last summer, that they would be caching our search info for their own use.
So I've divorced myself as much as possible from any Google product. They used to be my search engine of choice, but now I've switched to "ixQuick.com" a SAFE search engine, where NONE of my search info is ever saved.
