hello,

i have a laptop "Asus k53sv" and my question is: Does my laptop support windows 8?
I am currently using windows 7 and thinking to upgrade to windows 8.
I did read somewhere but can't remember but does windows 8 auto install all drivers? Because i don't know where i can download all my drivers.
Do you guys have some links for me? I can install it but how to make sure my "FN + F6" buttons work for brightness or sound.
I have no sense of drivers for Pc/laptops or that bios stuff.
That's why i need help from you guys!

I hope you guys can help me.
Thanks!

No..windows only installs the OS and some basic drivers for some hardware. You will need to download all drivers for your device from the Asus website.

You'll need to install the software/driver package for the FN bottons to work. Just look through the drivers and software tabs.

When upgrading your windows OS to windows 8/8.1...MS hightly recommends updating your BIOS for system stability. You might want to read up on how to do that. These days, you can update the BIOS from with in windows environment and the process is very simple and user friendly.

I've done a lot of experimenting, with 8.1 on different PC's, including one old Dell Laptop.
It's amazing to me, the advanced driver pack that comes built into Windows 8.1.

When I install 8.1 on even a ten year old eMachine, everything just comes up 'Working', even my Epson printers.

Even through all the Windows 8 and 8.1 beta testing, I've not had to download the first driver.
For all the PC's I'm using for "Testing", none of them have any BIOS updates available. They are what they are.

I always back up an existing OS before experimenting with a newer OS.... just in case I might need to go back.

Just a thought......

Thanks, One more question.
I know asus has taken a small part of my hdd with windows 7 in it to recover/reinstall from. When i install w8 does that small part goes away?

thanks

It depends on whether you go the upgrade route....then that hidden partitions with the recovery drive will be there and in tact. If you use the recovery partition to reset to factory default OS it will return it to the original OS that it came from the factory and not the current OS (8) that you would have installed.

If you go with a custom install...aka clean install....then NO. It will wipe/format the drive and all data is lost...including the hidden partition.

You could partition the existing HDD, essentially creating a new HDD and install windows 8 on that. This is what I have done on my Samsung laptop. This way I get to keep 7 and choose at boot up which OS I want to use at that particular time. On my desktop I just have 8.1 Pro installed.

If im right, when i upgrade from w7 to w8 it stay there so i always can boot and reinstall w7. And if i use a clean install it will complete remove everything?

Can you explane that last part with more detail please? I did not quite get it.

It's called dual-boot. You are not upgrading Win 7 but rather installing another OS (Win 8) in another partition. When you start up the PC, it will ask you to choose which OS to boot up with.

You are lucky if you only get banned. You can be tracked and sent to jail.

In the most general terms and not wanting to get banned,.......

I've heard tell, that MS monitors the License Keys on PC's that access the internet and MS Updates.
When they detect a License Key that's being used on multiple PC's without a valid Corporate License, the block that key and no more updates will be allowed to that PC.

Using a Kr'ack is highly illegal and MS has multiple ways to find and stop that type of activity.

Beyond that....lets not discuss Illegal Activities on this forum.
Mod, please close this topic. Eh?
