I've recently installed Windows 8.1 and on the start up it says Language ENG (UK OR US) For the keyboard setting. How do i remove this? As it wasn't there prior to installing 8.1/ Thanks

On the log in screen. I also can't change my colour scheme either and i've tried the personalise option but when i try that it thinks i want to change my background.

That's just one of the many reasons, that we've been trying, for over two years, to dissuade people from doing UPGrades from one version of Windows to another. Under the very best of conditions, they may work as intended, but usually NOT!

Windows 8.1 is not just a simple update to 8.0 as so many people mistakenly think. It's a whole different Operating System, with different wants and needs. If you have a backup of 8.0, then restore it, and think twice about upgrading to 8.1.

Good Luck!

Well my laptop didn't come with a disk of Windows 8 lol...so am i up a certain creek without a paddle? Or will i have to borrow a windows 8 CD from someone to get my 8 back? I would be using my original product key obviously

Too bad the term "Small World" doesn't apply here, or I'd tell you to drive on down here and I'd help you with that problem. But you're in the UK, I believe, and out of reach.

But now you know...... why we've been saying for two years, or more, to everyone who will listen, that before you ever do anything with a new OS, make a restorable Backup copy of it, for If And When you might need it.
FREE Backup software is as close as your Browser + Internet connection.

Making a backup of the C drive, is one of the first things I personally do, when I've just installed a new computer or a new OS on an older computer.
It's the old, "Ounce of Prevention" that I'm sure you've heard about.

Good Luck to you Mate!

At this juncture, that's probably your best bet. Possibly, a local Computer shop would assist you with that.

Good Luck!

Good thing for me is i do backup my data..but no the OS itself lol which is quite annoying for me. So i can't do anything then? to get back 8. Oh, it's a HP laptop with another drive called "Recovery" Think that would help my cause or will 8.1 be on that now as well? lol

The way i can't change the colour scheme is the most annoying thing really. Because i was using a trial of decor8 and i was able to change the colour scheme and now i just can't for some strange reason. I've tried a few things but i can't find the right setting to change it
